Ruszkiewicz celebrates primary victories

Takes two party lines, hails enthusiasm for a "fresh start" in County

(Pine Island, NY) –Paul Ruszkiewicz, candidate for County Legislature in District 3, celebrated with family and supporters as poll returns showed him the winner in the Republican and Independence Party primaries.

Ruszkiewicz ran a low-key campaign against barber shop owner John Figliacconi and Minisink Supervisor Lewis Lain.  Preliminary returns tonight showed him winning the three-way Republican primary with 346 votes to Figliacconi's 259 and Lain's 172, and a two-way Independence primary against Figliacconi with 18 votes to 14.

"I'm overwhelmed by this show of support; thank you to everyone who trusted me with your votes," Ruszkiewicz said.  "The results of these primaries are proof that people are looking for a fresh start for our County, where we can put recent infighting behind us and start restoring people's trust in our government.  Our message of open and honest government will carry us through to a win in November, and on into the Legislature.  You've shown that you want this fresh start by putting your trust in me; I will not let you down."

The results of a write-in Conservative primary will be determined during this week by a hand count.  Ruszkiewicz campaigned with the endorsement of the Orange County Conservative Party.
